Writer-producer dies at age 87

TV writer and producer Saul Turteltaub has died at age 87. Turteltaub, who helped bring The Carol Burnett Show, That Girl and Sanford and Son to TV, died at his home in Beverly Hills, Calif., on April 9, his son Jon Turteltaub has confirmed. He was one of the original writers on The Carol Burnett Show and received an Emmy nomination for his work on the first season. He gave a host of stars their first TV jobs, including Richard Pryor, Garry Shandling, Dana Carvey, Meg Ryan, Nathan Lane and George Clooney.
