If Sunday’s weather felt particularly hot this May weekend, that’s because it was. A number of weather records were broken Sunday, with White Rock seeing the hottest May 10 recorded in more than 90 years. The temperature in White Rock reached 29.1 C on Sunday; it’s the hottest temperature recorded in White Rock for May 10 since weather records started being kept in 1929, some 91 years ago. The previous May 10 record for White Rock was set in 1941 when the temperature hit 26.7. Other areas in B.C. that saw temperature records broken for May 10 include Comox, where it recorded a temperature of 26.6 on Sunday, compared with the old record of 25.6 in 1968. Records have been kept in the Comox area since 1914. Port Hardy also broke a May 10 record, with a temperature of 23.6 on Sunday afternoon, compared with the old record of 21.1 in 1968.
