Rebound must be sustainable

Thank you for your tireless coverage of the COVID-19 crisis. I have immense respect for the reporters and editors who spend so much of their time dedicated to keeping the public informed. I would like to express how important this time of recovery is, and my desire as a citizen to see this time used well.

We need to ensure that our economy rebounds in a sustainable way. To me, this means creating sustainable, well-paid jobs provincewide. We need large-scale governmental projects that are focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. And we need to ensure people across the board are held by a strong security net that includes access to food, decent housing and a universal basic income.

The time is now to strengthen our communities to make them more resilient and sustainable, and for the priorities of the citizens to be reflected in policy, as opposed to the narrow interests of big business.
