With galleries locked, concert halls closed and theatres dark, Postmedia has reached out to B.C. artists of all types to find out what they are doing during these trying COVID-19 times.

Ballet B.C. dancer Miriam Gittens has taken some time to answer our isolation questionnaire.

Q Where are you spending most of your time?

A I am spending 98 per cent of my time in my Vancouver apartment. I’ve been limiting my trip to the grocery store to once per week and I will take an occasional stroll around my neighbourhood.

Q Who are you with?

A I am by myself physically, but virtually with all my friends and family.

Q Where are you getting your information?

A I’ve been getting most of my information from the New York Times. I also am being passed information from my friends and family.

Q What is something you are doing that you don’t normally do?

A I learned how to crochet, so that’s been taking up the majority of my time.

Q What do you have lots of in your cupboards? A I have a lot of non-perishable items.

Q What have you been reading?

A I’m currently reading Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell. I am also working my way through a cookbook called Simple by Yotam Ottolenghi.

Q What have you been watching?

A I am watching The Crown on Netflix.

Q What are you doing for exercise?

A I am taking a variety of virtual classes — ballet, yoga, Gaga. Also, my family and I have been connecting via Zoom for some workouts together.

Q What worries you?

A A lot of things worry me right now, but most of all I am worried for the health of my loved ones.

Q If and when this ends, what will be different?

A When this ends, I hope people will have a greater sense of community. Personally, I am already feeling a deeper connection to nature than ever before.
