What part of this pandemic does Air Canada not get?

Re: Air Canada denies it isn’t providing enough passenger information

My daughter was on Air Canada Flight 204 on July 27 from Vancouver to Calgary, one of those reported on Sunday evening to have a possible COVID-19 infected person on board. She returned to Vancouver this past Monday on Air Canada.

Having seen the TV report, I immediately checked the Air Canada website to confirm. There was no notice posted on its website.

I immediately contacted Air Canada and was told they had no information about any passenger exposed to the virus on that flight. Although my daughter was not in the rows listed by the B.C. CDC (she was seated two rows in front), Air Canada provided no information to my daughter at any time. Nor was there any information provided to her upon returning to Vancouver. Any passenger could have been infected at any time during seating, during the flight, or while waiting for luggage at the airport terminal. It shouldn’t matter where she was seated.

She spent the week in Calgary at her friend’s parents’ place. She was at their cottage, potentially exposing friends and family to the virus.

All these passengers then returning from Calgary could potentially infect many others as they pass through YVR and are reunited with their families. My wife and I are in our mid-60s, so it certainly was a concern for us.

I understand Dr. Bonnie Henry’s and the government’s frustration at not getting contact information from the airlines. I’m trying to understand what part of this pandemic Air Canada doesn’t get.
