The Grove sets up new salon location in east Van

- ALEESHA HARRIS aharris@postmedia.com

There’s a new hair salon in east Vancouver.

Called The Grove, the new-to-vancouver Fraser Valley favourite (the first location opened in Chilliwack) is billed as “a comfortable and homey space, where customers can relax and let out their inner beauty.”

Located at 3462 Commercial St., the hair and beauty lounge features full-service salon and spa services, with a twist. We caught up with Bridgette Pysh, a co-founder of the salon alongside Jayme Smith and Maria Hoggard, to learn more:

Q What makes The Grove unique?

A The Grove is unique in many ways, but I think it shines in the happiness department. As owners who are active stylists and spa therapists, we understand the importance of feeling happy and healthy while working, and our goal is to not only have happy guests but fulfilled staff.

We prioritize the needs of those working for us and give them their individual space to grow. Mentorship and education is a large part of who we are. We also are very proud of our team of brilliant and friendly stylists.

Q Who is the target customer?

A Anyone who wants great hair, great skin, great lashes and nails. Most of all, those desiring a healthier way of achieving that.

Q What more can you share about the ‘healthy hair-shop’ approach?

A As a stylist who developed allergies from years of serious off-gassing of harmful chemicals, I decided to look at more naturally derived and, wherever possible, certified organic products. The Grove not only focuses on staff health and healthy products, but also environmental awareness. We don’t dispose of colour down the drain, we have partnered with Green Circle Salons, and our salon and spa waste is carefully recycled.

Q What made this the right time to open a second location in Vancouver?

A In the beginning of 2020 we were seeing large growth and success with our model in the Fraser Valley. We knew it was the right time to expand and continue to grow our brand. We believe wholeheartedly that this hybrid model coupled with a healthy approach is a successful formula so we jumped when we found the right space to create it.

Q What can visitors expect to find in the new space?

A A friendly down-to-earth team awaiting them. Also, a stunning blend of industrial features paired up with the warmth of natural handcrafted wood elements.

Q What is the price range for your services?

A Women’s cutting services range from $45 to $80, men’s cutting from $35 to $55 and colour services start at approximately $80.

Q Lastly, where can we learn more?

A Follow us on our locations’ instagrams @thegrovevancouver and @thegrovesalonspa or visit our website thegrovesalon.ca.
