TV chef finally unloads home in New York

- Melissa Hank

Rachael Ray is finding another place to store her EVOO. The celebrity chef has sold her home in Southampton, N.Y., for US$3.25 million, realtor.com reports. But it didn’t come easy: It was on the market for three years and took multiple price cuts.

Ray bought the property for $2.1 million in 2008, and listed it for $4.9 million in 2017 — and again for $4.69 million in 2018, and again for $4 million in 2019.

The three-bedroom, five-bathroom home sits on six acres and boasts a pool with a patio and pergola, as well as a four-room pool house. The 3,000-square-foot (277-square-metre) main residence is decorated in a neutral and airy palette. A one-room cottage also sits on the property.

Ray and her husband John Cusimano gave buyers the option to keep all the furnishings in the interior, done by Ray’s design guru, Michael Murray. It paid off.

“A family from Bronxville instantly fell in love with the character and style,” said listing agent Angela Boyer Stump of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Ray and Cusimano live mainly in a New York City apartment. They recently had a fire at their property in Lake Luzerne, N.Y.
