Spears loses legal battle
Britney Spears’s father, Jamie, remains the sole conservator of her estate, despite the singer’s request for him to step down. A court ruling put Jamie Spears in charge of her welfare and finances in 2008, after her headline-grabbing meltdown. He relinquished some control last year as he battled ill health, and her longtime caregiver, Jodi Montgomery, took over as temporary conservator. Britney applied to make Montgomery’s role permanent, with a “qualified corporate fiduciary” appointed to take over the business side of her estate. A court ruling Wednesday extends the arrangement to February 2021.
