-

A woman was stabbed in the parking lot of Safeway at Commercial and Broadway in East Vancouver on Sunday afternoon. According to Vancouver police spokesperson Const. Jason Doucette, the 47-yearold woman was walking with her husband when she was suddenly stabbed by another woman. Doucette said the woman's husband, along with two Safeway staff members and a customer, took hold of the attacker and held her down until police arrived at around 12:30 p.m. “The stabbing victim was taken to hospital with what is now believed to be non-life-threatening injuries,” he said. “Two of the men who helped out also received relatively minor injuries.” Doucette said it was not known at this point whether the suspect and attacker knew each other. “We are very thankful for the brave actions of those who intervened to stop this woman from escaping,” he said. The suspect, a 38-year-old Vancouver woman, was taken to hospital for medical assessment. Police did not say if she was hurt during the attack or while being held down.
