TEEN GROWING UP FAST IN MLS
Moses Nyeman might start in another MLS match today. On Sunday, he'll study for his learner's permit. Life is coming at D.C. United's 16-year-old defensive midfielder fast. Last weekend, he started for the first time and appeared in a third consecutive MLS game. Because the roster is riddled by injuries and the schedule is busy, Nyeman and other young players are receiving assignments normally filled by experienced players. Besides, they have lofty potential and United (27-5) could use the help. “He'll continue to get games,” coach Ben Olsen said of the five-foot-five, 135-pound rookie who turns 17 next month. “It's a great experience for him. With all our youngsters, it's clear to them that it's there for the taking. If they show me on game day we have a better chance of winning with the youngsters on the field, they will play.”
