Newton shooting victim badly hurt

A 67-year-old man was shot and critically injured early Saturday during a break-in at a residence in Newton. Surrey RCMP said that officers responded to a break-and-enter call in the 5800-block of 129th Street at about 3 a.m. Officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital and is in critical condition. A suspect, described as a tall and skinny man with a black shirt and black pants, fled the scene before police arrived.
