SWISS VILLAGE EVACUATED OVER WAR EXPLOSIVES

-

A Swiss village where a Second World War-era munitions dump exploded 73 years ago, killing nine and destroying the Mitholz town centre, will be evacuated for about a decade prior to the 2030 removal of 3,500 tons of remaining aerial bombs, mines and hand grenades. The aging stockpile has the potential to cause another tragedy. About 170 people must leave.
