In Memory of the Late Paul Carson

Thank you, Vancouver! For supporting 20 years of sports radio: 2001-2021

A message from David Stadnyk and the original founders of TEAM 1040/TSN 1040, on behalf of the late, great Carsoni!

First and foremost, thanks to all of you who listened. You the sports fans of Vancouver are what made sports radio something special at 1040 on the AM dial.

Thanks to all of the advertisers who believed in the medium and who became part of the fabric of the station.

Thanks to the Vancouver franchises and sports organizations: The Canucks, the Lions, the Whitecaps, the Canadians and the Warriors; to the Giants and to UBC, SFU and varsity sports in BC.

A message from David Stadnyk and the original founders of TEAM 1040/TSN 1040, on behalf of the late, great Carsoni!

Thanks to CHUM, CTV Globemedia and Bell Media for owning and operating TEAM 1040/TSN 1040 for 19 years and nine months. It was quite the run!

The torch that we — as founders— carried for sports radio in Vancouver has now been passed on. To Sportsnet 650, we are counting on you to succeed.

We thank, of course, all of the amazing people who made sports radio happen at 1040; not only the hosts, guest hosts, reporters and news anchors who were public facing, but the thousands of guests each year and also all of the hard-working and talented heroes behind the scenes over almost 20 years: the operators, engineers, creative, administrators and sales representatives, without whom there is no radio station. This is your tribute as well. We’re fully expecting that many of you continue to play leadership roles in the field, either in conventional media, new online and podcast platforms or in other forms of innovation that we haven’t even seen or heard yet. You were the best at 1040 – you’ll continue to be the best and serve as the station’s legacy for years to come.

Our original vision was to make 1040 more than just a radio station. It was to make it a special community. And that’s what it became, because of you. Thank you, Vancouver!
