Support local businesses and snag big savings through Postmedia’s online auction

- INES MIN Postmedia Content Works

We’re almost at the end of B.C.’s current “circuit breaker lockdown,” which means you probably completed your spring cleaning checklist last week, including even the back-breaking task of cleaning the oven. With a sparkling clean home, now’s the time to refresh your interior décor, invest in bigger purchases or simply treat yourself. Just in time too, as Support and Buy Local returns this month from April 22 to 27.

Postmedia’s online auction allows shoppers to indulge without the buyer’s remorse, offering incredible savings on everything from original artworks to golf memberships. Not to mention, the seasonal sale supports local businesses and provides a boost to the economy — when it’s needed the most.

“British Columbians and local businesses are still being challenged by the pandemic, more than a year since this all began,” says Mark Dowell, director of integrated advertising sales at Postmedia in Vancouver. “Postmedia has been a steadfast supporter of the community and is proud to continue offering local consumers and businesses a platform for exchange. It’s our way of boosting the economy while offering well-deserved savings to everyone involved.”

The last Black Friday auction offered deep discounts on more than $300,000 worth of goods. The upcoming spring sale will provide even more great deals on a range of quality items. Current items for sale include original art by local artist Mia Weinberg, memberships to Canada Golf, gift cards to California Closets, accessories from Lanka Jewels and much more. Inventory will continue to be added up to the auction’s launch and throughout the bidding period.

For local businesses, the auction is an opportunity to invest at a time when cash flow is limited. Items from a business’ existing inventory can be put up for sale. In return, Postmedia will provide the full retail value of all items sold toward future advertising, regardless of the winning bids.

The Support and Buy Local Auction will begin on April 22 and close on April 27. Bids will be accepted throughout the duration of the auction.

For keeners who are all ready to move from spring cleaning to spring shopping, account registration is open now. Early registrants can get a head start on their retail therapy by previewing items from today. Check in daily during the preview period to see newly added items and peruse the inventory.
