10 U.S. DIPLOMATS ASKED TO LEAVE IN RETALIATORY MOVE
Russia on Friday asked 10 U.S. diplomats to leave the country, in retaliation for Washington's expulsion of 10 Russian diplomats over alleged malign activity. It also suggested the U.S. ambassador return home for consultations.
The measures, part of a broader retaliatory package, were a response to U.S. government sanctions imposed Thursday.
However, Moscow did not kill the idea of a Putin-biden summit.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Moscow recalled its ambassador for consultations after President Biden last month said he thought Putin was a “killer.”
Washington said its sanctions were payback for Russia interfering in last year's U.S. election, cyber hacking and bullying Ukraine.
