Cranston sells off eco-home

- Melissa Hank

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is breaking out of his beach home in Mussel Shoals, Calif. The actor has sold his eco-friendly property for US$5.45 million just two weeks after listing it. He bought the property for $2.5 million in 2007, Los Angeles Times reports.

Built in 2013 among the coastal community's traditional cottages, the 2,450-square-foot home is custom-made and energy-efficient, with a net-zero carbon footprint. The exterior is sleek, minimalist and metallic grey. Inside, glass walls and polished concrete floors continue the theme.

A mix of solar and recycling systems power the home, which is stocked with smarthome amenities as well as custom furniture and a personal art collection that buyers could acquire with the home. There are three bedrooms and four bathrooms, with the primary suite featuring a balcony, walk-in closet, steam shower and soaking tub. On the main floor, a dining deck descends to the beach.

“I put my heart, soul and blood, sweat and often tears into it, and I'm glad because it was such an artistic endeavour, and yet functional,” Cranston said.
