- ALEESHA HARRIS Aharris@postmedia.com

Beauty Through Balance is a B.c.-based brand that uses natural ingredients such as Pacific seaweed and Canadian glacial clay to create self-care products that balance sustainability and efficacy.

For more than 10 years, their products have been used in spas across Canada, including at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Willow Stream, the Four Seasons Whistler Spa and the Rosewood Hotel Georgia Sense Spa.

We caught up with founder Sherina Jamal to learn more.

Q What is Beauty Through Balance?

A Beauty Through Balance is a female-owned business focusing on the development and supply of holistic and therapeutic skin care made in Canada. The formulas are influenced by ageold traditional healing rituals and plant medicine from around the world, including Indigenous ingredients from Canada.

Each product is a reflection of our belief in the infinite healing power of nature and sustainability when it comes to sourcing, harvesting and production to protect our precious environment. We pride ourselves in the purity of our ingredients and offering luxury spa formulas without the high luxury price.

Q What makes it unique?

A The first thing that makes our products unique is the fact that every formula is created to treat the skin/body holistically and therapeutically. What that means is the majority of the formulas work on internal issues such as mineral imbalances, detoxification, inflammation, pain and dehydration.

Second, we were one of the very first brands in the industry that incorporated local, hand-harvested Indigenous ingredients — Pacific seaweed and Canadian glacial clay — used for centuries by Indigenous people to create our therapeutic-grade spa formulas. We procured exclusive partnerships 15 years ago with the harvesters to ensure that all harvesting was 100-per-cent sustainable, without any disruption to the surrounding ecosystem. We've always prided ourselves in being innovators and pioneers creating products that are unique in their benefits, authentically Canadian, natural and a reflection of our commitment to the environment long before the term “green beauty” was a household (term) used in the industry.

Q What is the price range?

A Between $32 and $54 retail, on average.

Q And, lastly, where can people check them out?

A People can find our products and information about the treatments available ... across Canada at beautythroughbalance.ca.
