Stop insulting vax decisions
Re: Daphne Bramham: Anti-vaxxers ignore inconvenient truths in their campaign
It's easy to paste a label on people and issues these days. It's easy to fling the term “anti-vaxxer” and include clever lines and descriptions to attempt to prove a point. The point as I see it, however, is that this is a health choice not to be labelled “vaxxer” or “anti-vaxxer,” which reduces people and issues to very simple things. Such labels demean people, and limit our thinking about the issues involved.
People who choose to take a vaccine have their reasons, and people who choose not to, have their own. Of course, media plays a big role in shaping people's views these days: CBC, The Vancouver Sun, Common Ground, and so forth. You have the right to present your views in The Vancouver Sun and elsewhere, and Joseph Roberts and his contributors can write their articles wherever they do.
Let the readers inform themselves, sift through the information, and decide the course they wish to take. And please stop insulting the people who are seeking choices or alternatives in health care.
