UNVACCINATED CITIZENS PUT UNDER LOCKDOWN

-

Austria on Thursday became the first European country to impose a lockdown on those who refuse to be vaccinated against COVID, while leaving the fully vaccinated free to lead normal lives.

The regions of Upper Austria and Salzburg are affected, but Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said there was a “green light” for it to be extended to the entire country.

“I don't see why two thirds should lose their freedom because one third is dithering,” he said.

Austria has a large anti-vaxxer movement and only 64 per cent of citizens are fully jabbed. Police will carry out spot checks.

Ten countries in the EU are now areas of “high concern,” including the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, the Czech Republic and Greece.
