The product: Canada Goose Footwear

Why we love it: Toronto-headquarte­red brand Canada Goose is getting into the footwear game with the launch of its first shoe collection.

“We are a lifestyle brand, and footwear is an important part of how we engage with consumers,” Adam Meek, the general manager of footwear and accessorie­s at Canada Goose, says of the category expansion, adding that it had also been requested by its consumers.

The growth into footwear, Meek says, has been in the works for several years.

“Our first step was to build expertise in the category with the acquisitio­n of Baffin in 2018, a performanc­e outdoor and industrial footwear brand,” Meek explains. “We then built the in-house team that has led the design and developmen­t of the collection. The final step was validation from experts across the globe through gear testing in order to ensure we deliver a product that upholds our standards and functional­ity.”

The launch features two styles — the Snow Mantra Boot and the Journey Boot — each available in three colourways.

“The Snow Mantra Boot is the pinnacle expression of Canada Goose Footwear and performs in the most extreme environmen­ts in the world,” Meeks says of the waterproof style. “The Journey Boot is a performanc­e luxury hiking boot with a trail-ready design fit for the demands of the city. Expertly crafted in Italy, the style features a squared-off toe inspired by alpine hiker boots worn in the Alps.”

The new category furthers the brand's ambition to “create best-in-class products; striking a balance of performanc­e and style, while offering solutions for what consumers need in today's world,” according to Meeks.
