Ex-Trump aide alleges corruption as he releases Hunter Biden emails

Pressure was growing on the Biden family on Wednesday after a trove of emails belonging to the U.S. President's son were released online by a former Donald Trump aide to “expose corruption.”

Some 120,000 emails, believed to have been extracted from Hunter Biden's personal laptop, were published this week on the website BidenLaptopEmails.com, which as of Wednesday no longer appeared to be accessible.

Garrett Ziegler, a former director for trade and manufacturing policy under Trump, uploaded the emails to a database on his research group called Marco Polo.

The group says it specializes in “exposing corruption and blackmail” and called the database a “modern Rosetta Stone of white and blue collar crime.”

One of the searchable messages, according to the MailOnline and other outlets, purported to be from Hunter to the family of an unnamed Mexican billionaire in February 2016.

He describes an apparent quid pro quo with the Mexican businessman, with Hunter allegedly securing access to the White House and Barack Obama and then-vice-president Biden's inauguration ceremony in return for visits to a villa.

Hunter, a hedge fund investor who formerly worked as a lobbyist, has been accused of using his family name to conduct overseas business deals that could compromise his father.

Both Hunter Biden, 52, and his father have maintained that they never communicated about the younger Biden's business dealings, which included service on the board of a Ukrainian energy firm and deal-making in China.

His work has drawn scrutiny for the past several years.

A computer repair shop owner based in the Bidens' home state of Delaware claimed that Hunter dropped the laptop off for repairs in 2019 and never came back.

He said he turned over the computer to the FBI and provided a copy to a representative of Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
