WHERE FRIENDS CAN GATHER
“I kind of wanted it to look almost like furniture but not,” she says of the kitchen cabinetry design. “Your kitchen is supposed to stand out but not take over your whole home — just (part of ) a cohesive design for the rest of the space.”
The bathrooms boast their own distinctive details that add a unique quality to the homes.
“There are quite a few touches that myself and the rest of the team were excited about,” Mark says.
“Probably one of the most notable features is that graphic floor tile in the main bathroom.” The dramatic floor — available in two different colours depending on which colour palette the homebuyer chooses — is complemented by contemporary, sphere-shaped sconces and a matte black round mirror — design features that usually wouldn't be offered even as an upgrade, Coupland observes.
The communal amenities are no less stylish or functional than the private interior spaces.
The indoor common area boasts a large, bright kitchen family-style seating room with a shuffleboard table, a TV, and a lounge that will open to a secure, private, outdoor courtyard. “I think it was more planned around Commercial Drive being so unique, and the homeowners and families that live there,” Coupland says. “It's a very social place for people to gather with friends, much like Commercial Drive.”

outdoor dining,” Coupland says.
Other communal amenities include a shared workspace, dog wash station, and a bike storage and repair space. Each unit comes with a parking spot with an option to buy a second one for larger
suites, something quite rare for the neighbourhood, according to Coupland. “That's quite a standout,” she adds. In addition, each parking spot has EV charging capabilities.
Coupland says that in creating the Ace, Wesgroup was looking to
offer unique features in the residences not found anywhere else while embracing the spirit of the Drive throughout the building and the common areas.
Pointing to the courtyard and the distinctive interior finishings,
Coupland cites them as examples of “trying to definitely elevate the homes but really stay true to the families who were going to be buying here, the uniqueness of their home matching the uniqueness of them.”
