Coveted waterfront homes in Kelowna offer true lakeside living

To state that Aqua Waterfront Village provides true waterfront living begs explanation. Unlike other similarly-described developments, the three-tower community is not simply near the water; instead, it is located directly on the beach in Kelowna’s Lower Mission, with a public promenade dividing the sand and the residences, leading to a village of shops, cafes and restaurants.

Given its unparalleled location on the shores of Okanagan Lake, Aqua is the centrepiece of this new four-season Resort District.

While developer Mission Group has a distinguished history of building multi-family residences in Kelowna and elsewhere in B.C., CEO Jon Friesen calls this project “A showcase for us. It was a oncein-a-lifetime opportunity to do the most with six acres of beachfront land, and we’ve gone out of our way to ensure that Aqua is a genuine waterfront resort.”

The first phase of Aqua quickly sold out last summer. In the two remaining towers, Mission Group is offering one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, as well as penthouses and lakehouse-style townhomes. Each home is designed with high-end materials, finishes and appliances that augment the resort ambiance.

“Everything from the enormous balconies to the huge windows — as well as Aqua’s waterfront townhomes with their large exterior spaces — is intended to bring the outside in,” says Friesen.

Another key element that distinguishes the development is the Aqua Boat Club, a valet boat storage and boat share service housed in a stand-alone four-storey building. Valet offerings for boat owners include long- and short-term dry rack storage, detailing and launch and retrieval via Aqua’s smartphone app. “A boat sharing option means Aqua residents don’t need to be boat owners to enjoy cruises on Okanagan Lake,” says Friesen. “Plus, the indoor storage of boats keeps the vessels away from sight and from destructive elements.”

As for Aqua’s 1.2-acre waterfront, the public promenade is part of Kelowna’s plan to connect Rotary Beach Park to the Mission Creek Greenway. Aqua residents can either step outside their front doors and onto the sandy beach or stroll to the village or greenway. “Two great hotels and their amenities are also nearby, and downtown Kelowna is a 10-minute drive away,” says Friesen.

“Waterfront high-rise condominiums with a boat valet service attached are unheard of, which is why we’ve enjoyed sales from a wide demographic of people,” says Friesen, who regards Aqua as a highlight of his long career. “This is also great for people wanting to invest in a vacation property.”
