HUGDAHL, Peter Magnus

-

November 18, 1967 – May 12, 2022

Peter Hugdahl was taken from us unexpectedly and far too soon at the age of 54. Peter was a devoted, proud, loving father and husband, and he valued and cherished family above all else. He will be forever missed by wife Karen, sons Kyle and Ian, father Tor, brother Mark, and sister Karen (Hugdahl Meyer). He was still grieving the loss of his mother, Valerie, who had been a constant source of love, support, and guidance throughout his life. Peter was born in North Vancouver, and grew up on Riverside Drive, where he met lifelong friends Michael Kerr and Jim Reid.

He was passionate about nature and the environment, and he loved hiking, camping, sailing, dogs, flying, and especially cycling. He participated in the Tour de Fox Ride for Parkinson’s research and the Ride to Conquer Cancer (Vancouver to Seattle), and he was training for the Tour de Cure this year. His love of flying led to an early career as a pilot and flight instructor at the Pacific Flying Club. In his mid-thirties he began a new career in real estate appraisal, where he excelled, establishing and running a successful business, Vanqwest Appraisals.

Peter had a thoughtful, deep intelligence that informed everything he did both in his personal and professional life. Whenever you talked to Peter, he really listened. He had a quiet, understated sense of humour. He was solid and dependable, even-keeled, gentle, and kind. He made his family endlessly proud, both for his accomplishments and his character. Peter was a true friend to so many people in his life, and he will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul with a twinkle in his eye, an easy smile, and a helping hand for everyone he met. We love you, Peter.

Please join us for a reception in memory of Peter at the Polygon Gallery, North Vancouver, June 21, at 2 p.m.
