Which roads will be closed on race day this year?

Here's the lowdown on what routes to steer clear of on Sunday morning

If you're not lacing up your shoes, there is a good chance you are bracing yourself instead for the road closure mayhem that is the annual Sun Run.

On Sunday, The Vancouver Sun Run will be held for the 37th time since 1985. Attracting tens of thousands of participan­ts, the event is one of the largest 10-kilometre road races in North America.

Hosting this major event requires several road closures, some starting at 5 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m. Here is a complete list of closures along with a map that highlights the routes to avoid on Sunday:

EVENT TIMES:

■ Mini Sun Run: 8 a.m. Competitiv­e Wheelchair­s: 8:40 a.m.

■ Main Race: 9 a.m.

■ Roads to reopen: 1:30 p.m.

■ Start Area: Georgia, from Seymour to Bute

■ Finish Area: Pacific Blvd. — B.C. Place to Pat Quinn Way

CLOSURES:

■ Georgia, from the Causeway to Pender: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

■ Denman, from Georgia to Beach Ave.: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

■ Beach Ave, from Denman to Jervis: 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

■ Pacific Ave., From Jervis to Hornby: 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

■ Burrard St., Davie to the Burrard Bridge: 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

■ Burrard Bridge, full closure: 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

■ W 6th Ave. East Exit: 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

■ Burrard Street, Bridge to West 3rd: 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

■ Pat Quinn Way, from Expo Blvd. to Pacific Blvd.: 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

■ Carrall, from Keefer to Pacific Blvd.: 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
