Vista Condos: Elevated living in the heart of the Okanagan Valley

- URSULA LEONOWICZ

With condo prices skyrocketing in Vancouver, especially in the most sought-after areas, more and more people are relocating — moving on in search of greener pastures.

Set within the Predator Ridge Resort and surrounded by two of the top-ranked golf courses in Canada, the Predator Golf Course and the Ridge Golf Course, Vista Condos in Vernon might be exactly what they’re looking for. The resort is also nestled between two beautiful lakes, Lake Okanagan and Kalamalka Lake.

“You get about 50 per cent more living space than you do in Vancouver for the same price, in terms of square footage, plus the views and the lifestyle,” says Scott Macdonald, who, along with Shannon Macdonald, is in charge of project sales at the 56-unit development set at the pinnacle of the worldclass, four-season resort.

“A lot of the people coming from larger centres feel like it’s difficult to get that sense of community these days, depending on where they live. What people really like here is that they’ve found a sense of community.”

Starting from $575,700 for a one-bedroom-plus-den, all of the units at Vista Condos deliver stunning views of the nearby golf courses and the Okanagan Valley, hence the project’s name.

Floor plans include onebedroom-plus-den, two-bedroom and two-bedroom-plus-den condos as well as penthouses, which are located on the building’s fifth and sixth floors. All of the condo apartments have open-concept layouts and generous outdoor areas that measure up to 1,200 square feet for the penthouses.

Ranging in size from 783 square feet to 1,740 square feet, all units come with a suite of sleek, stainless-steel appliances, a built-in pantry, electric fireplace and laundry room, among other pluses.

“They have spa-like bathrooms and chef-inspired kitchens,” says Macdonald, “and the units with dens come with full-height architectural glazing that separates the den from the rest of the living space.”

The architecture incorporates wood, stone and steel finishes, and it is in harmony with the surroundings. Designed to fit a variety of lifestyles, whether it’s your primary residence or an investment and vacation home, the project has its own pool and hot tub with extensive decking that looks over the valley and across the golf courses at the rolling hills.

Vista owners can rent out their condos on a shortterm basis when they’re not there via the Predator Ridge Resort Accommodation Program, which is another major benefit of the project.

There’s a homeowner’s lounge near the pool with a kitchen and patio that can be used for social gatherings. The other amenities include a pet-wash station, underground parking, golf cart parking, storage lockers and bike spaces.

Aside from award-winning golf, Predator Ridge provides access to over 75 km of hiking and biking trails, a fitness centre, year-round tennis and pickleball facilities, a 25-metre pool, dining, shopping and an outdoor yoga platform with amazing views. The two on-site restaurants provide a variety of local options as does the Commonage Market, the on-site café, grocery, liquor and wine store.

Predator Ridge is also minutes away from Vernon’s Scenic Sip wine district.

“It’s a lifestyle that’s hard to compete with and there’s something here for everyone. It attracts a very like-minded group of people so it’s very easy to become part of the community, because everyone has such similar interests. And it’s very active,” says Macdonald who moved from Ontario with his wife to live at Predator Ridge.

“It’s not easy to move away from close friends and family, but in less than two years our social circle is twice as big as it was because there are always so many activities, such as wine tastings and card nights, as well as golfing. A lot of people come here for golf but 60 per cent don’t, which speaks to the other activities and lifestyle amenities.”

Vista Condos was developed by Carrington Communities, which got its start in 1973 and has gone on to become an award-winning condo and townhome builder in Western Canada, building over 10,000 homes and winning over 60 awards.

The luxury condos at Predator Ridge are currently under construction, which can be viewed in real time on the developer’s website, with delivery slated for 2025.

The Vista Condos real estate centre and show suite is located at 75 Predator Ridge Dr. in Vernon, and is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
