Archdiocese announces pastoral appointments
OTTAWA | Archbishop Terrence Prendergast announced retirements and new appointments for the Archdiocese of Ottawa. The pastoral appointment changes take effect Aug. 1 unless otherwise noted.
Retiring from service in the English parishes are Fathers Daniel Dubroy, Thomas Riopelle, and Joseph Vayalil. Their retirements all take effect the start of August. Father Louis Fohssiè is taking a sabbatical study leave from his duties for the French parishes in the archdiocese.
English Region 1
Father Gerard Monaghan is reappointed administrator for the St. Margaret Mary parish in Cumberland and the St. Edith Stein parish in Rockland. Father Andrew Obel is appointed administrator for St. Jude parish in Hawkesbury and Our Lady of Divine Love parish in Pendleton. Father Hezuk Shroff is appointed pastor of Good Shepherd parish in Gloucester and Father John Whyte reappointed chaplain for the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.
For reassignments Deacons Thomas Donohue and Kevin Foley transfer to St. Margaret Mary parish in Cumberland, Deacon Marc Gauthier to Annunciation of the Lord parish, Deacon Wayne Lee to Good Shepherd parish and Deacon Patrick McNulty to Our Lady of the Visitation parish, all in Gloucester. Deacon Richard Gervais transfers to Our Lady of Divine Love parish in Pendleton, Deacon Jeffrey Lebane to Divine Infant parish in Orléans, and Deacon Norman Levesque to Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in Ottawa. Deacon Allen Peter Ritchie transfers to the Peter D. Clark long-term care centre.
Region 2
Father Hugues Beaugrand, FSSP, is appointed associate pastor of St. Clement parish in Ottawa, effective June 17. Father Janusz Jajesniak, OMI, reappointed pastor of St. Hyacinth parish in Ottawa. Father Sean Wenger, CC, becomes pastor and Father Bryan Sabourin, CC, associate pastor of St. Mary parish in Ottawa, both effective July 1.

In the Ottawa area, Deacon Allan Carpen transfers to Queen of the Most Holy Rosary parish, Deacon Charles Fink to St. Mary parish, Deacon Ricardo Santiago to Notre- Dame Cathedral Basilica, and Deacon James Scheer to Stain Patrick Basilica.
Region 3
Father John Likosar, CC, appointed associate pastor of St. Maurice parish in Ottawa effective July 1. Other Ottawa appointments include Father Emeka Jude Onyeogubalu as administrator of St. Peter parish, Father Bela Pesznyak as chaplain to the Hungarian community in St. Elizabeth parish effective Jan. 21 this year, and Father William Penny appointed administrator of St. John the Apostle parish in Nepean.
Deacon Fred Jardine transfers to St. John the Apostle parish and Deacon John Kennedy to Holy Cross parish, while Deacon Robert Van De Laar is assigned to St. George parish, all in the Ottawa area. Deacon Paul Soucie transfers to St. Martin de Porres parish and Deacon Greg Vaughn to St. John the Apostle parish, both in Nepean.
Region 4
Deacon Matthew Chonja becomes associate pastor of Holy Redeemer parish in Kanata after his presbyteral ordination.
Also in Kanata, Deacons Desmond Adam, Thomas Cuddiy, and John O’Donnell transfer to the St. Isidore parish. Deacon Mark Masson is re-assigned to the St. Philip parish in Richmond and also to St. Clare parish in Dwyer Hill. Deacon Yves Trottier transfers to St. Monica parish in Nepean.
French Region 1 Among the French parishes in region 1, Msgr. Daniel Berniquez, EV, is reappointed Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Services and for Consecrated Life for the French Sector, without prejudice to his existing duties as rector of Notre Dame Cathedral-Basilica.
Father Jacques Kabangu is reappointed pastor of Saint-Gabriel parish in Gloucester while Deacon Michel D’Aoust is reassigned to the parish and also to his apostolate with the Centre de l’Amour.
Deacon Yvan Lavoie transfers to Communauté-chrétienne Saint-Frère-André in Vanier and Deacon Jacques Mayer to SaintGabriel in Gloucester.
Father Étienne Mfuni-Beya is reappointed administrator of Saint-Victor parish in Alfred and Saint-Thomas parish in Lefaivre while Deacon Rhéal Lalonde is reassigned to those two parishes. Deacon Michel Milner transfers to Saint-Grégoire-de-Nazianze parish, Saint-Eugène parish, Saint-Bernardin parish, Saint-Joachim parish, and Saint-Jean-Baptiste parish in L’Orignal, and to Sainte-Anne parish in Sainte-Anne-dePrescott.
Region 2
Father Léo Villeneuve is appointed associate pastor of Sainte-Marie parish in Orléans, Saint-Hughes parish in Sarsfield, and SaintLaurent parish in Carlsbad Springs, all taking effect June 14.
Father Jacques Kabasu-Bamba is reappointed pastor of Saint-Thomas d’Aquin parish, Sainte-Geneviève parish, and Nativité-de-Notre-Seigneur-Jésus-Christ parish in Ottawa. Father Jean-François Morin is appointed pastor of Saint-Remi parish in Ottawa.
Among other multiple parish assignments, Father Michel Pommainville is reappointed pastor to Sainte-Marie parish in Orléans, Saint-Hugues parish in Sarsfield, and Saint-Laurent parish in Carlsbad Springs. Deacons Pierre Bélanger, Gaston Savage,and Robert Turpin are also posted to those three parishes.

Father Jonathan Blake is appointed pastor of Sacré-Coeur parish in Bourget, Sainte-Félicité parish in Clarence Creek, Saint-Mathieu parish in Hammond, and Saint-Pascal-Baylon parish in Saint-PascalBaylon. Father Joseph Lin Éveillard is reappointed pastor of Sainte-Euphémie parish in Casselman and Saint-Albert parish in Saint-Albert. Father Albert Kazad Nkashama is appointed pastor of Très-Sainte-Trinité parish in Rockland.
