JUNIOR C HOCKEY SEASON OVER FOR PRESCOTT-RUSSELL
The hockey season is finished for the junior C clubs in Clarence Creek and Saint-Isidore.
The North Dundas Rockets and the Papineau Vikings both move on to the next elimination round in the NCJHL, after they beat the Eagles of SaintIsidore and the Castors of Clarence Creek four games to two, in the league’s second-round elimination series.
Saint-Isidore beat North Dundas 8-5 at home on March 13, for their second win in the elimination series between the two.
A rematch, two days later at the SaintIsidore Arena, saw the Rockets soar to a 10-2 victory with the sole goals for the home team from Jeremy Arbour and Zackary Bougie. The game between the two clubs, Saturday at the Chesterville District Arena, ended 8-4 for North Dundas, putting the Rockets ahead three games to two. The final game Sunday in Saint-Isidore finished 6-4 for the Rockets with single goals from Bélanger, Choquette, Francis Chartrand, and Alexis Leclerc for the home team.
While late-winter flurries brought a last dump of snow to town, the Vikings edged out the Castors 4-3 during the March 14 evening match in Clarence Creek. Scoring singles for Clarence Creek were Connor Lacy, Thomas Lowry, and Zack Lugli.
Saturday night in Papineauville, the Vikings slipped ahead of the Castors in the series tally by clipping their opponents 6-4. Goals for the visitors came from Lugli, Jeff Brett, Patrick Lemay, and Raphaël Payant.
The Vikings moved on to the next round of the playoffs with their final win against the Castors 3-1, Sunday at the Clarence Creek Arena. Nathan Melée scored the lone goal for Clarence Creek.
