A CRY FOR HELP FROM THE ROCKLAND USC

Vision (Canada) - - La Une - -Francis Racine

“We’re looking for the town to support us, as we have supported it.”

John Clements, President of the Rockland United Soccer Club, uttered a plea on December 12. The Club is in dire need of volunteers and executive members. “If we don’t have enough executive members and volunteers by January 4, we will have to take drastic measures,” explained Clements.

These measures, according to the President, would include only offering a recreational league. The Club was established nearly 25 years ago and boasts more than 500 players, offering Rockland and area a competitive league and house league as well as soccer development. The President stressed that the lack of volunteers has forced the club to be reactionary. Clements stressed that the club offers a lower price for young players. “We charge a lot less than other places,” he explained. “We want our kids to play soccer in our community. We don’t want them going to Ottawa or Cumberland.”

Aspiring volunteers can contact the club at 613-446-2787 or visit them at their office, 687, Laurier Street.

Le Club de soccer est en manque de bénévoles.
