Far from settled

Re: Speaking out against the party line — April 1 Pro-life uprising could be Harper’s toughest battle yet — April 2

The chattering classes in the “lamestream” media have in their secularity long since decided that abortion is a given. It’s settled and must be paid for by us taxpayers, they assert.

So we have Geoffrey Stevens, on April 1, declaring “the abortion issue is like having a crazy old aunt who is kept hidden in the attic . . .”, and Tim Harper on April 2: “. . . the settled abortion question . . .”

Many of us lowly folk strongly disagree. The child in the womb has his or her own DNA and their heart start to beat at four weeks.

Plus, I personally, as a taxpayer, detest having to pay for abortion.

Forty-five per cent of Canadians profess to be Catholic Christians and abortion is a dreadful sin in the eyes of the Church. They are trying to make us complicit.

Especially detestable is the targeting of girl babies. But no, according to Stevens and Tim Harper, such matters shouldn’t be dealt with through private member’s bills because “Stephen (Harper) promised” and “abortion is settled.”

Like hell it is. Paul Vandervet Cambridge anyone else’s. Enabling them to feel more comfortable with their bodies, even if it is by creating a plaster mould of their busts, is important.

Although I recognize that this method of feminism may not appeal to everyone, there is a purpose in having a space to discuss things such as female genitalia, how the media represents it, and ways to actually feel good about how you look.
