Double-gold performances for Webb and Belkwell
BRAMPTON — Alexandria Webb of Cambridge and Cole Belkwell of Kitchener both recorded a pair of gold-medal performances at the Ontario bantam (U14), midget (U16), and youth (U18) track and field championships at Terry Fox Stadium. Webb, representing Cambridge-based Invictus Athletics, won the midget girls’ shot put with a 12.33metre effort and won the javelin with a 37.73-metre throw. Belkwell, of the Brantford Track and Field Club, won the youth boys’ hammer throw with a toss of 55.09 metres and the shot put with a 17.65-metre effort. Abbygail Byers of the Laurel Creek Track and Field Club won the bantam girls’ long jump at 4.85 metres, was third in the 150-metre dash, and first in the 4x100-metre relay with teammates Chanithi Bandaranayake, Julia Hancock, and Avery Hastings. Ashlynn Gilhula, Nicole Paine, Lily Brown, and Collette Wolfe of Laurel Creek were first in the midget girls 4x100-metre relay, and clubmate Mackenzie Morgan, was first in the youth girls 800metre race. Morgan then teamed with Elizabeth Klosa, Maddie Quinn, and Sydney Marteniuk to finish third in the youth girls’ 1,600-metre sprint medley. Tamara Grahovac of Supreme Athletics was second in the youth girls’ triple jump and third in the long jump, while teammate Tomi Bamigbade was second in the youth girls’ 100-metre and 200-metre dashes. Treyton Webb of Invictus was second in the bantam boys’ javelin, Adam Exley of Invictus was second in the youth boys’ 110metre hurdles, Charlotte Bishop of Invictus was third in bantam girls’ 200-metre hurdles, Julia Hancock of Laurel Creek was third in the bantam girls’ 80-metre dash, Miguel Robles Villarreal of Invictus was third in youth boys’ 400metre hurdles and Isaac Mapp of First Attempt Jumps Academy was second in youth boys’ triple jump.
