Auburn and Mountain Hearing Centre opens Ancaster location

-

Auburn and Mountain Hearing Centres is thrilled to announce the opening of its seventh clinic in Ancaster. Guests are welcome to learn about the latest hearing aid technology at one of the open houses taking place Mon., Apr. 30 and Tues., May 8 at 1144 Wilson St. W., unit D203. Hish Husein is Auburn and Mountain Hearing Centre’s Doctor of Audiology and the only nationally certified audiologist in private practice in Hamilton. He can help assess your hearing loss and prescribe hearing aids if the need is warranted. A proper assessment is essential to ensuring you receive the solution that will best serve your individual needs. In fact, a hearing aid cannot be purchased with out a prescription in the province of Ontario; only an audiologist or physician can legally prescribe hearing aids. Having earned the highest professional degree possible in the field of hearing aid services, the expertise of an audiologist is the ideal professional for an assessment and subsequent hearing aid fitting. Patients should understand that there is no such thing as one size fits all when it comes to hearing solutions. Each individual requires custom care and detailed attention to determine how to best manage each person’s hearing loss. Thankfully, with incredible new advancements in hearing aid technology, today’s wearers of hearing aids can enjoy greater comfort and usability than ever before. One of the most current changes in technology has been the integration of android and apple phones connectivity with hearing aids. In the past, patients were required to wear something around their necks to interface with the hearing aid. Today, a patient can simply access the phone app to make adjustments to the hearing aid. While, previously, the wearer had to adjust the volume by struggling with tiny buttons on the device, the use of a phone makes volume changes simple and discreet. This is particularly beneficial for older adults who face dexterity challenges. Hearing aids now offer blue tooth functionality. Wearers can connect a hearing aid via blue tooth to enjoy music or the sound of a TV program directly into the ear at just the right level of volume. Even with all the advancements in technology, no hearing aid will work optimally without a qualified prescription and expert fitting. “Fitting has to be precise,” explains Husein. “Imagine putting on eye glasses that are off focus. Similarly, an audiologist has sophisticated equipment to perform tasks to ensure each patient’s needs are satisfied.” While a hearing aid cannot repair damage to the auditory system, an audiologist is uniquely qualified to ensure that the maximum potential benefits from hearing aids will be achieved. Husein works closely with each patient to determine which the hearing aid, and even more importantly, the specific sound characteristics that will provide the best performance and communication benefits. Choosing an audiologist with whom you trust is essential. An ongoing relationship is necessary to ensure that your important investment continues to optimally meet your needs month after month, and year after year.
