The Design Palace Showroom Offers the Latest in Home Design Trends for Everyone

- by Jane Pinzhoffer, for The Record

“I knew I wanted to do something more than just building residential homes,” says George Mouradian, President of Ridgeview Homes Inc. A Conestoga College Civil Engineering graduate, he established Ridgeview Homes in 1997, a company that’s become known throughout Southwestern Ontario for its open concept contemporary designs. “I was already accustomed to finding the best quality products and contractors for the homes I was building, so I thought, why not offer it to everyone? Why can’t I become the guy to do that?” The Design Palace opened in 2015 presenting the unique concept of allowing the general public to select from home design products normally available only to new homebuyers and builders and it wasn’t long before George was looking to expand. “I had my eye on this property for 3 years,” says George from his office at the new 15,000 square foot showroom located right across the street from the original Design Palace site. The 2 acre property at 334 Manitou Drive in Kitchener was completely gutted, resurfaced and remodelled into a modern commercial building with plenty of street appeal. Inside soaring 24’ ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows create a big bright space where sunlight catches the dazzling array of gleaming fittings and fixtures. The beautifully planned space is divided into easily identified sections like “The Perfect Pour,” “Are You in Sink?” and “Man Cave.” It offers everything you need for your home renovation, from kitchen cabinets, countertops, and backsplashes to bathroom vanities, fixtures and flooring. The second floor is the design centre for Ridgeview Homes, where homebuyers can select finishes, features, colours, and more for their brand new home. The new Design Palace location takes the concept of one-stop shopping to a whole new level with an assortment of home products presenting the latest trends in exclusive designs you won’t find anywhere outside of Toronto. “We import vanities, something you’d pay $2,000 for in Toronto, could be under $1,000 at the Design Palace,” says George. But they not only supply the product you need for your renovation, at the Design Palace you just tell them what you want and they will do it all. They’ve gotten a lot of positive response from homeowners who are opting to remodel rather than move. “Seniors especially love us,” says George. “They want to stay in their home with a large lot that they’ve lived in for 20 or 30 years. People have a hard time finding plumbers. They want to redo cabinetry and then find out they need an electrician. Contractors will take you from store to store to look at products and it can take up a lot of your time. At the Design Palace we’ll sit down with you and give you exactly what you want for your interior or exterior home project. We have two full time interior decorators to assist you and we do all of the dirty work, arrange everything with professional trades and make sure each trade follows the other so that he job is completed within a reasonable time frame exactly how you envisioned it.” Although the showroom has been open since November 2017, the grand opening was celebrated on June 29, 2018, bringing Ridgeview Homes, the Design Palace, and Tri-City Wholesale Flooring together under one roof. Whether you’re planning a room makeover or a complete home demo, The Design Palace is a must visit destination for all your renovation needs. Ridgeview Homes Design Palace is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visit the website https://www.designpalace.ca/ or call 519-748-0087 to schedule a free estimate.
