Art walk, studio tour, festival and more this weekend
WATERLOO REGION — Take a self-guided walk to art studios in the region or enjoy a dance-filled celebration.
There’s a lot to do in the region this weekend; here’s the shortlist:
Enjoy south Indian dance performances, classical Tamil music, a fashion show and yummy eats at the 18th annual Tamil Cultural Nite celebration being held at the University of Waterloo. The cost of admission is free and all ages are welcome.
Take a self-guided tour of artist studios in Elmira and St. Jacobs during the Kissing Bridge Trail Studio Tour. The free event is open to all ages and includes over 10 locations. And if that’s not enough art for you, this weekend is KW- Central’s Art Walk. Thirty-three local artists are opening their homes and studios to showcase a range of work that includes felting, painting, wood and glass works, photography, knitting, bath and body products and more. The Waterloo Region Children’s Safety Village is hosting a Halloween treat. There will be crafts, safety training, games and trick-or-treating — don’t forget to wear your costume. Tickets are available online only at www.waterlooregioncsv.com. Cost of admission is $3.50 per person.
Celebrate the “Art of Imperfection” at this year’s themed DIY Festival being held at the Kitchener Public Library. Hand-on workshops include decorating antiques and vintage pieces, using chalk paint, and learn about some historical and contemporary examples of imperfection. There will also be exhibitors in the lounge including Kitchener Master Gardeners, True Grist Homebrew Club, The Papertrail and more.
