KITCHENER — Kenneth Morrison, 27, of Kitchener, made a brief court appearance Friday afternoon as he was formally charged with firstdegree murder in the death of Shaun Yorke.

Morrison is the second person charged in Yorke’s death. Officers with Waterloo Regional Police’s major crime unit and the emergency response unit arrested Morrison at a house on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Mowafag Saboon, 24, of Kitchener was arrested and charged with more than a dozen criminal offences, including first-degree murder. He made a brief court appearance in Kitchener on Thursday.

Police said both arrested men know each other.

Several of Yorke’s family members and friends were in court Friday, and said they intended to be in court every time there was a proceeding in the case.

Yorke, 45, was found dead inside his townhouse on Elm Ridge Drive on July 8 at about 1:20 a.m. He had been shot.
