Don’t leap to judgment

Waterloo Region Record - - Insight -

The first knock at my door on Halloween came very early. I opened the door and was a little surprised to see a young man, about 14 to 15 years old. He wasn’t in a costume and was accompanied by several other young people who were standing on the street. I was about to suggest that he don a costume and show a little Halloween spirit, when he started his spiel. He said that he was with a local church youth group and that they were collecting food donations for the food bank. I handed over a donation, gave him some treats for his posse, and thanked him for his efforts. It’s wonderful to see young people getting involved and participating is such unselfish acts. I was also reminded of the adage: “Never judge a book by its cover.”
