Region unemployment rate slips to 5.1 per cent

Waterloo Region’s unemployment rate edged down to 5.1 per cent last month from 5.2 per cent in October. There were 16,100 people who were unemployed and looking for work in the Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo census metropolitan area, down from 16,300 in October, Statistics Canada said Friday. The number of people working fell to 297,500 from 299,200. The rate of participation in the labour force fell to 70.9 per cent from 71.4 per cent.
