MobilityPlus, an alternative for seniors and the disabled
Re: Priority seating a ‘grey area’ not requiring enforcement — Jan. 5
Regarding the story about priority seating on Grand River Transit, I travel quite a lot by bus and I am getting close to being 88. Although not in a wheelchair, I feel some days it won’t be too long until I am. Yes, youth often use reserved seats even when the bus is almost empty. But, I must say, in Cambridge anyway, they usually move when a person with a wheelchair or walker comes on. I know that Kitchener has a bigger problem mainly because of volume of riders. But it’s very disheartening to read about even one handicapped person having to be left off because of the bus being full. There is another service by Grand River Transit called MobilityPlus. The folks here at St. Luke’s Place in Cambridge often use it.
