Belgian Nursery closes while exploring new direction
BRESLAU — Belgian Nursery in Breslau will close temporarily later this summer as the business looks to a new direction.
The long-standing family business on Victoria Street North will continue accepting new online orders until July 21. The last available curbside pickup date will be July 25.
The nursery chose not to open to walk-in traffic when garden centres were allowed to reopen because they felt physical distancing couldn’t be guaranteed; they’re using curbside pickup instead.
“This year’s challenges have forced all of us to reflect on our direction and try to find the best path forward,” reads a statement on the company’s website.
“Here at Belgian Nursery, we have taken this opportunity to look openly at our business, what it means to us and to our community, and to see where it might lead us next.”
The nursery said it expects to be completely closed until mid to late fall — that includes the online store and for phone or email inquiries.
But the business reassured customers that it will be back, and said occasional updates will be provided online and via social media during the closure.
“We have decided to grow back to our roots: refocusing on the core of what makes us special, and weeding out the overgrowth to better serve the whole. We want to continue providing the very best in quality plants for our community,” the nursery said.
“Our vision is still evolving, but we look forward to a new and exciting direction, and a reignited passion for growing and sharing our favourites with you.”
