Ralph Vincent Poechman passed away suddenly at his home in Hanover on February 14, 2021, at the age of 90. Ralph was born in Brant township to the late Alex and Christina Poechman. Ralph worked for years on the family farm alongside his brother John on the South line. He married Phyllis, his partner of many years later in life, at the age of 51. He was known for his welding skills and spent many hours at his shop once he retired from farming, keeping himself busy with odd jobs. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Solo, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and faithful member of Holy Family Church. He was known for his big smile, and his kind and calm demeanor. Predecease­d by his beloved wife Phyllis (nee Aiken), sister Marie McLaughlin and her husband Ed, sister Eileen Flaman and her husband Bob, sister Anne Van Eyk and her husband Frank, brother-in-law Earl Jackson, sister Louise Hafermehl and her husband Harvey, and brother-in-law Gerry Ferguson. He is survived by his brother John Poechman of Hanover, sister Reta Poechman of Kitchener, brother Alfred Poechman (Marilyn Bennett) of Hanover, sister Ruth Jackson of Port Burwell. Also survived by sister-in-law Sheila Ferguson of Beeton, sister-in-law Carol (Don) Dion of Port Carling, brother-in-law Jim (Mae) Aiken of Burk's Falls, and many nieces and nephews. Due to provincial restrictio­ns and gathering limitation­s, a memorial service will take place at a later date, with inurnment at Carlsruhe Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Hanover Knights of Columbus, or St. Mary's General Hospital Cardiac Rehab, Waterloo. Arrangemen­ts entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
