It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of David Ryan Miller in his 47th year. David was born in Kitchener, Ontario to Robert and the late Patricia Miller (Starr) (2013) in 1974. After graduating from Forest Heights Collegiate, he studied Communicat­ions at Simon Fraser University. Upon completion of his university degree, David accepted a public relations position at the Academy of Canadian Cinema which was the beginning of his career in the television and film industry. David's career spanned over 20 years and in addition to his time at the Academy of Canadian Cinema; he worked for the National Film Board where he led a winning Oscar Campaign; Channel Zero as the Director of Creative and Business Developmen­t; and then moved to producing and distributi­on as a partner in A71 Entertainm­ent. As a producer David experience­d internatio­nal acclaim and recognitio­n. Films he worked on played in festivals and theatres throughout the world and were nominated and the recipient for a variety of awards. David was always someone who wanted to give back to the industry and never passed up an opportunit­y to support/ mentor a budding filmmaker or put his support behind a movie, as well as being an active member of the Canadian Media Producers Associatio­n. David's favourite moments were bringing joy to others, spending time with his family and friends, enjoying cottage weekends, being on a movie set, cheering for his beloved Duke Basketball Team, taking in a baseball game, listening to music, watching a favourite film and playing a round of golf. David will be forever missed by his loving wife Corinne; parents Robert and Lynda Berg (stepmom), George Herman (father in-law); brother Scott (Penny); nephew Jack; niece Stephanie; stepbrothe­r Jeff (Jessica), stepsister Kristy (Ryan), uncles Peter (Ingrid) and Jerry (Linda); and Aunt Bonnie (Steve). He is predecease­d by his mother Patricia. David is currently resting at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467, his remains will be cremated. A private family celebratio­n of life will take place on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 1 p.m. Extended family and friends are welcome to join the service via livestream at www.henrywalse­r.com/livestream­ing. In lieu of flowers, we welcome donations to the Canadian Mental Health Associatio­n (cards are available through the funeral home).
