Pair of crashes send three to hospital

A pair of serious crashes sent three people to hospital on Saturday.

The first occurred at about 12:45 p.m. on Angler Way in Waterloo, when a driver struck a parked car, a trailer and two homes.

The driver, a 28-year-old Waterloo man, and a female passenger were taken to hospital with non life-threatenin­g injuries.

Police are still investigat­ing the cause. Due to extensive damage to the two homes, residents were forced to leave until the buildings were deemed safe.

The second crash happened at about 11:25 p.m. on Huron Road near Puddicombe Road when a driver left the road and struck a hydro pole.

A 27-year-old woman from Wilmot Township was airlifted to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries. Hydro was shut off to a large area while the driver was extricated.
