An occasional roundup of unusual incidents reported by the Ontario Provincial Police.

More proof that sex in a car is overrated.

A car crashed into a tree and rolled over in a ditch as the male driver and female passenger attempted to have sexual intercourse, OPP said.

The driver also claimed he veered to avoid hitting a deer.

The crash happened on Sunday at 9 p.m. on County Road 2 in Asphodel-Norwood Township, southeast of Peterborough. Both occupants were taken to hospital.

“During the conversation with the driver, officers detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath,” police said.

The driver, 20, was charged with dangerous driving and being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol content above zero.

Police described the couple as a “frisky duo.”

An officer declined to say where they are from “because of the sensitivity of the situation.”

Up the creek

Two kayaks capsized Jan. 27 in swiftmoving water in a creek in Bayham, southwest of Tillsonburg.

One occupant made it to shore and called emergency services, police said.

The other two held onto a log for 30 minutes before being rescued by Bayham Fire and Emergency Services.

Never off-duty

An off-duty police officer helped nab an impaired driver.

Driving to work on Jan. 30 at 5:50 a.m., the officer spotted a car being driven erratically east of Sarnia and called the police communications centre.

Other officers arrested the male driver, 42, of Brussels, Ont., and charged him with impaired driving.

Truck thief seeks fuel

A woman faces three charges after a suspicious person was reported at a rural property.

“Homeowners had arrived home to discover a female and a pickup truck on their property,” police said of the Jan. 31 incident on Newry Road in Huron East, near Goderich, around 9 p.m. “The female requested fuel and asked if she could charge her cellular phone.”

Police determined the truck had been stolen from the Kitchener area.

The woman, 43, of Paris, Ont., was charged with possession of stolen goods, failing to comply with probation and trespassing at night.
