Wedding Bells (East) - - REAL WEDDINGS -

FROM BECCA: Ian and I met in a warming cabin while we were crosscountry skiing in Gatineau Park. The planets were aligned that night, making for a gorgeous evening ski. I knew that night Ian and I would spend the rest of our lives together. To honour the place we met, we chose a magical winter wedding theme. We wanted to create a winter wonderland full of snow, sparkles and rustic- chic details. Silver candelabras, brooch bouquets, sparkle- covered pine cones, Newfoundland hand- knit mittens and vintage fur coats were just a few of the things that made it into the decor. Our first stay at the Château Montebello was during the Canadian Ski Marathon— a two- day, 160- km cross- country ski event we’ve done together for the past three years. We knew immediately it would be the perfect place to hold our wedding, as it has a similar ambience to the place we met. Complete with a stunning six-sided fireplace, crosscountry ski trails, sleigh rides and a log cabin to accommodate all of our guests, it was truly the ideal setting. A light dusting of snow began to fall just in time for the ceremony. As my friends sang “Hallelujah” a cappella, Ian had the sweetest look on his face and I was just beaming!
