ALEXANDRA BAIN & CHRIS BURROWS
AUGUST 12, 2018
FROM ALEXANDRA: Chris proposed on Christmas Eve, 30 years to the day of my
parents’ engagement. After snowshoeing through the forest while listening to old Christmas carols, we arrived at Lost Lake, in Whistler, B.C. We were the only people there and suddenly Chris was on one knee. We celebrated with Champagne by the lake—it will go down as one of the best days of our lives. It was easy to choose an English-garden theme, especially
given Chris’ British roots. Myrtle et Olive completely got our wish for timeless, undone elegance, with a priority on florals. The hanging botanical installation in the room’s centre made a huge impact, and brought that outdoor garden feel into the beautiful white ballroom. Our palette of cream, soft blues and greys, with blush accents, added to the grandeur.
A favourite detail was the head table. I had my heart set on pale-blue linens, tons of tapered candles, bountiful flowers and King Louis dining chairs. When we saw the reception space in real life we were blown away. A moment that exceeded expectations was seeing each other
for the first time. We’re both traditional and knew we wanted the first time we set eyes on each other to be when I walked down the aisle. It was surreal to see our ceremony vision come to life.
