Night lights at Upper Canada Village, daytime treats at seasonal markets

Step inside a winter wonderland this holiday season when thousands of lights adorn the 19th-century buildings at Morrisburg’s Upper Canada Village. A family favourite for 16 years, Alight at Night features a Victorian Saint Nick and horse-drawn carriages. And in downtown Ottawa, Parliament Hill flips the switch on its multimedia sound and light show, which projects enchanted winter landscapes, animals, and imagery onto Centre Block and the Peace Tower (the 13-minute show runs nightly from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. starting early December). The show is a special feature of Christmas Lights Across Canada, which has downtown Ottawa positively glowing with 400,000 lights. uppercanadavil
