Capital ice capades go well beyond the Rideau Canal.
Glide across the Sens Rink of Dreams in Marion Dewar Plaza at the city’s picturesque City Hall. With a heated changing facility, the 12,500 square-foot rink is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week, weather permitting. Meanwhile, Rideau Hall’s iconic rink (above) dates back to skating parties organized by the governor general in 1872. Step back in time at this historic spot, open Jan. 4 to March 12, weather permitting. Public skating without reservations is available Saturdays and Sundays, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Both rinks are BYOB (bring your own blades).
