Cana­dian jazz trum­peter and vo­cal­ist, Bria Skon­berg, plays at TD Jazz Fes­ti­val

june 21-july 1 ot­tawa­jaz­zfes­ti­val.com The 38th an­nual jazz fes­ti­val of­fi­cially launches the sum­mer in Con­fed­er­a­tion Park, at the stately Na­tional Arts Cen­tre, and in venues around the city. This year’s lineup in­cludes greats like elec­tro jazz-funk prophet Her­bie Han­cock (June 30), smooth jazz trum­petist Chris Botti (June 21), and the blue-eyed soul man Boz Scaggs (June 22) along­side new and well-known artists like award-win­ning throat singer Tanya Ta­gaq (June 27 & 28), elec­tron­ica jazz out­fit GoGo Pen­guin (June 29), nu jazz/house pro­ducer St Ger­main (June 27), and many, many more. Ev­ery evening siz­zles with bois­ter­ous out­door con­certs as well as more in­ti­mate show­cases. The Lord El­gin ho­tel across from the Park hosts late-night open jam ses­sions, which means that any num­ber of fa­mous artists could pop in, just like at any old jazz club in Man­hat­tan. Tickets start at $25.
