may 11-15 ottawachildrensfestival.ca Geared for growing minds, the Ottawa Children’s Festival presents performing arts of the highest calibre for tots, teens, and kids of all ages. “Visitors who don’t know us come and expect bouncy castles,” says Artistic Producer Catherine O’Grady. “What we have is award-winning professional theatre, music, and dance from the around the world.” Most of the action takes place on the Canadian War Museum’s lawn where families can enjoy activities like archery, rock climbing, face painting, and crafts in between plays from Canada, Scotland, Australia, or Denmark. Come sing with family entertainer extraordinaire Fred Penner, embark on a unexpected voyage in Plastic to a world where plastic bags come alive, and journey even further to world’s end where five friends in Machine de cirque are on a quest full of breathtaking juggling, balancing, and aerial acrobatics.
