may 11-15 ot­tawachil­drens­fes­ti­val.ca Geared for grow­ing minds, the Ot­tawa Chil­dren’s Fes­ti­val presents per­form­ing arts of the high­est cal­i­bre for tots, teens, and kids of all ages. “Vis­i­tors who don’t know us come and ex­pect bouncy cas­tles,” says Artis­tic Pro­ducer Cather­ine O’Grady. “What we have is award-win­ning pro­fes­sional the­atre, mu­sic, and dance from the around the world.” Most of the ac­tion takes place on the Cana­dian War Mu­seum’s lawn where fam­i­lies can en­joy ac­tiv­i­ties like archery, rock climb­ing, face painting, and crafts in be­tween plays from Canada, Scot­land, Aus­tralia, or Den­mark. Come sing with fam­ily en­ter­tainer ex­traor­di­naire Fred Pen­ner, em­bark on a un­ex­pected voy­age in Plas­tic to a world where plas­tic bags come alive, and jour­ney even fur­ther to world’s end where five friends in Ma­chine de cirque are on a quest full of breath­tak­ing jug­gling, bal­anc­ing, and ae­rial ac­ro­bat­ics.
