June 8-10 west­fest.ca On its 15th an­niver­sary, West­fest takes over the Tom Brown Park off Bayview Road.“West­fest has gone through so many changes,” says Fes­ti­val Pro­ducer Elaina Mar­tin, “but at its heart it has re­mained the same: a fes­ti­val com­mit­ted to bring­ing to­gether lo­cal res­i­dents, vis­i­tors, artists, and mu­si­cians to cel­e­brate mu­sic and art in a wel­com­ing, safe, and in­clu­sive space.” Head­lin­ers in­clude mul­ti­me­dia artist and Bear Wit­ness (June 8), who’ll mix in­fec­tious dance­hall, house, and jun­gle beats, and iconic Toronto power pop­pers The Pur­suit of Hap­pi­ness (June 9). The af­ter-par­ties on Fri­day and Satur­day will bump in the Tom Brown Arena’s top floor. The lineup is ever-lo­cal, fo­cus­ing on per­form­ing artists from the re­gion, such as coun­try roots singer Julie Cor­ri­gan (June 9), rap­per and poet King Kim­bit (June 10), and Sun­day’s head­lin­ing Indige­nous, elec­tronic hip hop artist, Cody Coy­ote (June 10).
